Tool Talk Blog Hop with Island Batik

Posted on September 19, 2022September 17, 2022 by Jane Hauprich

Today is my day to participate in the Tool Talk Blog Hop with Deb Tucker’s Studio 180 Designs rulers and a new collection of Island Batik Fabric.

I have to say that I was super excited about this project as the fabric line is AMAZING!!! And I got to try a new ruler!!! The one I received was the Square Squared ruler from Studio 180. This fabric line is called Paisley Got Mod by Kate Colleran Designs. It will be shipping to shops this month!!

First, I created a pattern or an idea of what I wanted to do in EQ8. Then I chose my fabrics to use.

Solid White from Island Batik seemed to be the perfect background fabric for this quilt.

I wanted you to see the Studio 180 ruler in action, so here is how the Square Squared worked and it was perfect every time!!!

Look at this fun pile of trimmings!!!

My pressing mat from Prairie Spirit Alpacas was a great asset when pressing these blocks!!

I did use my Aurifil thread for the piecing of this and here I am putting the binding on using my HQ Stitch 510 from Handi Quilter, using a needle from Schmetz!!

I had so much fun free motion quilting this on my Handi Quilter Amara!! I used Hobbs batting and love how this quilted up.

Want to see how I accomplished the quilting path in the blocks for this quilt? Check out my video that shows several quilting paths for the layered squares blocks.

Here is my finished project at my little photo shoot, thanks to my friend, Debbie!!

I also did a quilt reveal video!!!
