Quilt News!!
This month I received a ribbon in the mail for quilting a quilt that won a ribbon in the Asheville Quilt Show!! Well that was kind of fun. This quilt was made by Rhonda using a pattern from Flying Fish Quilts – Wendy Williams.
Longarm quilters aren’t always recognized, so this was a fun surprise!!
She also recently won a ribbon at the Wisconsin Quilt Show. Congrats to Rhonda!!!
Edge to Edge Quilts
I did finish a couple of edge to edge quilts this month. This first one is from Ellen. She had made this One Block Wonder awhile ago as a class sample.
This next one is actually one of mine!!! I saw this YouTube tutorial on this block from Missouri Star Quilt Company and decided this was a great way to showcase the remaining Kaffe Fassett scraps that I had left. I love how it turned out. This will most likely be donated once I have it completed.
And I also made some cute little bags!!!
I recently cleaned out my quilting room and had some free motion quilting sandwiches that had been filled up with some fun quilting. I decided not to waste them but to cut them up and make them into a cute bag!!!
Custom Quilting
Now onto the custom quilting!!! I completed one custom quilt this month for Sharon. This is the “Leafy Pattern” from a Kaffe Fasset book. I love how it turned out and am always in awe of the gorgeous hand applique pieces that I get to work on.
Other News
This past weekend, I taught a Beginner Free Motion class at Spring Water Designs in Columbia, MD. It is always such a joy to see quilters arrive to this class not sure that they can do this, and then leave with the confidence that they CAN free motion quilt on their domestic machines!!!
In October, I am hoping to get at least two custom quilts finished (if you want to see progress pics, make sure you are following along on Instagram or Facebook). I am also pretty excited to be doing two virtual guild lectures in October, and I am teaching a feather class at Spring Water Designs. It’s going to be a busy month!!!
