Row, Row, Row Your Quilt!!! Row By Row Blog Hop!!!

Posted on February 14, 2022February 12, 2022 by Jane Hauprich

For my February Island Batik project, we were asked to make a Row quilt using a specific line of fabric and to participate in the Row By Row Blog Hop!!

The line of fabric I received was called “Honey Blue” and is an amazing assortment of yellows and blues. Who doesn’t like yellow and blue together!!!! This was designed by Kathy Engle and should be shipping to shops this month!!

I got out these glorious fabrics and began my quilt!!!

We were also given some coordinating fabrics to use for this too!!

My first thought was how can I incorporate my AccuQuilt dies into this quilt. Luckily, I was able to cut out most of this quilt with my Accuquilt. I used the flower die, the orange peel die, and my 8″ Qube dies. Win! Win!

I started with the flower blocks which is where my idea started to begin with. I used my Karen Kay Buckley perfect circles and scissors, to get perfect circles for the centers. And then I did a blanket stitch on my Janome 6600, to applique these designs onto my background fabric. My Schmetz needles helped get this job done so nicely!!! I was tickled when I had the perfect color Aurifil thread to applique these pieces!!

I continued to add more rows until I had what I had envisioned.

Once I had my quilt top together, I put it on my frame and free motion quilted this on my Handi Quilter Amara. I used this glorious Hobbs cotton batting for this!!

So……here is the quilt all quilted. But make sure to scroll to the end because I am having a giveaway and so is Island Batik!!!!

Rosie “approved”

Want to see how I quilted those fun feathers in the side borders? Here’s a fun quilting tutorial on the curling feathers!!

And what do you do when you have some leftover blocks? Well you make a table topper!!!! I quilted this on my Handi Quilter Capri. If you are interested in free motion classes, make sure to check them out.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!GIVEAWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And now for the giveaway information!!! I have created a 10″ stack of each of these fabrics (I used up most of one fabric, so I am substituting something else in there). Please comment on my blog and one winner will be randomly chosen. Contest ends at midnight on February 22, 2022. This gives you plenty of time to get your entry in. USA addresses only.

Thanks too for the video on the border. Even after quilting a king-size quilt with feathers, you very much inspire me!
