Island Batik Log Cabin Blog Hop

Posted on February 14, 2024February 14, 2024 by Jane Hauprich

Today is my day for the Island Batik Log Cabin Blog Hop!!!

I was given this fabulous line of fabric from Island Batik, called Love & Peace by Kathy Engle for Lizard Creek Quilting (Terri Vanden Bosch). This line of fabric is shipping to shops this month!!! The pictures can’t even relay how bright and vibrant this line of fabric is!! I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it!!

Fortunately, I was going on a quilt retreat with friends in January, so this made for the perfect project!!

Since my date to post fell on Valentine’s Day, I felt it was a sign to make some kind of heart block. I played around with EQ8 and came up with this fun block!!

My Oliso iron came in handy with this, along with thread from Aurifil Threads and my Schmetz needles worked great for this project!! I used Hobbs Black batting for this and it was amazing!!

And here is the finished quilt!! I love how the black background fabric makes this fabric line just pop!! And I love making a scrappy binding!!

Since I loved this quilt so much, I wrote a pattern!!! It is a quick and easy quilt to put together!! It can definitely be strip set friendly (2 1/2″ strips). The pattern is available as a printed pattern and also a pdf download through my shop page. The quilt measures 65″ x 65″, so it would make a great size throw quilt, or even a crib/floor baby quilt!!

I had to do a photo shoot and Rosie needed to help!! I hope you will enjoy the following pics.

My Personal Giveaway!!!

I couldn’t do a blog hop without having a giveaway!! I am giving away a Fat Quarter stack of this amazing line of fabric.
You will have three opportunities to enter:
Comment on this blog post
Comment on my Facebook Post about this quilt. (Make sure you follow my page)
Comment on my Instagram (@janestitchbystitch) post about this quilt. (Make sure to follow me)

Due to shipping costs, this is open to USA Residents only. Winner will be chosen on February 26, 2024.

Island Batik Giveaway!!!

Island Batik is also having a giveaway!! Head on over and make sure to sign up for that here.

I want to make sure to thank all of those that provided items for this awesome quilt: Island Batik, Aurifil Thread, Schmetz Needles, Oliso, Hobbs Batting, Prairie Spirit Alpaca’s.

I think your design is a different, an inventive twist on lots of other “heart” projects I have seen in the last week. Most of those are re-circulated designs I have seen over and over. This one is different! I like it, and I especially like the black background, which sets off the bright colors of the heart shape. Well done!

You designed such a cute quilt. As soon as I saw it, I thought it would make a great baby quilt, and one that would be enjoyed right through childhood, which is the kind I like to make. (Especially since sometimes I don’t finish them right away–babies may be toddlers before they get their quilts 😹)
