Face Masks – Making Your Own!!

Posted on April 3, 2020 by Jane Hauprich

There is a great need for face masks right now.  While these masks cannot prevent you 100% from getting infected by germs, they are better than nothing, and also help you from spreading any germs.

Remember, there is no right/correct pattern.  Make what you are comfortable making, if you want to.  I am listing several resources for patterns so that if you want to make a mask for yourself or for others, then you have options.  If you are making them for an organization, please make sure to reach out to that organization first, to make sure what type of masks they would want.

Here is the mask that I have been making for our local organizations:  Mask Directions

There are others out there who also have patterns/suggestions:

Bethanne Nemesh has a great tutorial.  Many of us are running out of elastic, and ties are time consuming to make, so watch her suggestion of using white undershirts.  https://www.whitearborquilting.com/adjustable-side-face-mask/

Missouri Star Quilt Company:  https://www.missouriquiltco.com/msqc/tutorial/DIY-face-mask

Deaconess Mask Tutorial:  https://www.deaconess.com/How-to-make-a-Face-Mask

Olson Face Mask:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnVk12sFRkY

Face Mask with Pocket for filter by Leah Day:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNX0cRrYj6U

Remember, we are all in this together!!  Stay safe and well!!
