Christmas In July Island Batik Style

Posted on July 22, 2022July 22, 2022 by Jane Hauprich

It’s Christmas In July, Island Batik style!!!

For our Island Batik Ambassador July 2022 challenge, we were asked to use the Accuquilt Tree of Life die, which we had just received. We were also to give it away as a Christmas in July present!!

I do love my Accuquilt!! Everything cuts out so easily on it and then the pieces go together so smoothly!!!

Assembly is so easy!!

As you can tell, I decided to go with as many solids as I had on hand. The Island Batik solids are just beautiful!!!

I used my Schmetz needles to sew this on my HQ Stitch 510.

We received an Alpaca pressing mat from Prairie Spirit Alpacas, which helped tremendously in getting these pieces to lay nice and flat!!

I was super happy how this block came together!!

Now to put it all together and get it quilted and the binding done!!! I added some Hobbs Fusible batting to this and then I quilted this on my Handi Quilter Capri, which is a stationary longarm machine.

I then added a faux piped binding for the win!! For the binding I ended up using these two fabrics, and I love how they look with this wall hanging!!

To sew on the binding, I had the perfect color Aurifl!!

All in all I am super happy with this project!!!

The best part was giving this project away to a special friend that has a July birthday!!!

Happy Quilting Everyone!!!
