Here we are at the end of another week, and I have not posted as I had intended. I keep a notepad next to my computer with ideas on topics/quilts to post about, and the list keeps on growing, yet my time seems like it isn’t. If only I could add an extra 8 hours to each day!!! Of course, I guess I could if I gave up sleeping!?!?!?!
Recently, I had the opportunity to quilt two quilts that were the same pattern but used different fabrics. I think I am always amazed at how our fabric choices can make the same quilt look so totally different.
These both were made (by my customer and friend, Ellen) using the Yellow Brick Road quilt pattern. The first quilt is made with Halloween themed fabric and the second quilt is using mostly Kaffe Fassett fabrics.
Now, I have to say that I love both of these quilts!! The Halloween one will be great to have out in October and is such a great seasonal quilt. The Kaffe quilt is one that will brighten a room any time of year.
I know for some that the Yellow Brick Road pattern is a great “go to” pattern. My “go to” pattern for a quick quilt tends to be a “tossed nine patch” pattern. What is your favorite “go to” pattern when you need a quilt that needs to be done fairly quickly?
On another note, I have been a user of the Frixion pen and while I have read articles for it and against it as far as marking fabric, I recently read this article and wanted to share it with all of you. I don’t think this means that I will stop using mine, but it may mean I put more thought into where and when I will be using them.
I have been quilting a lot of quilts lately, and have many to show you, and I will try to get some pictures up in another blog post sometime soon.
A few of my customers are entering their quilts in the Maryland State Fair within the next couple of weeks. I wish you all the best!! I can’t wait to see them hanging for everyone to enjoy!!
Happy Quilting!!
