Well, as it is New Year’s Eve, I thought it would be a good opportunity to reflect on 2014.
On a personal note, there were a couple of family milestones this year!! We welcomed our first grandchild in June and being a grandparent is amazing!! In October, we welcomed our wonderful new daughter-in-law into the family. Needless to say, we had a lot going on!!
On the quilting side of things……I quilted a lot of quilts this year!!!! When I looked through my records I found I had quilted 90 quilts for customers this year and also did a few of my own. Wow!! I have to say that I have enjoyed quilting each and every one of them!! I would love to show you all of them, but will only post a few at the end, so as not to bore everyone!! 🙂
A couple of quilting highlights this year: In February, I was able to attend the Virginia Longarm Network “Birds of A Feather” Event in Virginia Beach, VA. Three days of classes from well-known long armers!!! Wow…..I was able to take classes from quilters that I never even dreamed of meeting……Jamie Wallen, Angela Walters, Lisa Calle!!! I learned a lot that weekend!! They have classes for people that own long arm machines and also those of you who use your home machines to quilt. Here is a link to their site if you would like to take classes this upcoming year.
In October, I took a quilt class from Kaffe Fassett at Olde City Quilts in New Jersey. Wow!! What an experience to meet this amazing fabric designer and his associates, Brandon Mably and Liza Lucy. I think my most favorite part was when he helped you with your fabric layout and if you didn’t have what he thought would look good with what was up on your design wall, then he would say “come on….let’s go shopping” and then walk you across the street to the shop and help you pick out fabrics. It was definitely a time that I won’t forget and will blog more about this in the future with lots of pictures!!
Another highlight was having several customers win awards in several quilt shows. From local shows up to national shows. They should all be proud of their work!! I hope that you all will take a chance to enter your quilts into shows this upcoming year!! Because you just never know until you try……..which is my new motto for this coming year!!
On the social media side, it has also been an enlightening year, to say the least!! 🙂 I branched out from just doing Facebook, into Instagram (Janestitchbystitch) and creating this blog. Phew…..what a learning experience these two have been!! I have to say that Instagram has been a blast and I have met so many quilters this way. I am even participating in my first Instagram mini quilt swap in 2015!!
All in all it has been a wonderful year and I am so thankful for all of you!!!
I wish you all a very happy and healthy 2015!!!!!
Remember……you never know what you can do until you try!!!!
Happy New Year, Jane. Can’t wait to see what you produce in 2015! Hoping to have a few of mine in your mix. Your quilting becomes more amazing with every quilt… You truly have found your niche!
Libby – Thank you for all of your support!! Don’t know what I would do without all of my quilting buddies!!!! Happy new Year!!
