It really is never too early to start working on projects for Christmas!!! This month, as we were to make a project for the holidays, it made me have to think about what I wanted to possibly make to give to someone.
I decided to use some of the Island Batik fabric I had used the first half of the year, as this specific line has a wintery theme to it. I used Glacier Bay by Kathy Engle.
When I need a table topper type gift, I always seem to lean towards one or two patterns. This is one I have made many times over, and one that I love and seems to be loved by others. It is The Centerpiece Tablemat from Sweet Treasures.
This makes for a fun and easy pattern to put together. I even think you could do it as a “quilt as you go” if you wanted.
Here is the top once I had it all together. It goes together very quickly, and is a good use for thin strips!!! I used my Schmetz needles and my Aurifil Thread for piecing.
I used Hobbs Cotton batting (two layers) and then quilted this using Aurifil thread!! It quilted like a dream!!!
I am mostly a free motion quilter, but sometimes the perfect design lives inside my ProStitcher!!! Here it is being quilted out!!! This was quilted on my Handi Quilter Amara.
And…..I couldn’t stop at just one…..so I made two. I have plans for one of them to use as a gift, but may keep the second one for me!!!
In fact, I think it will look great on my table this winter!!!
Make sure to watch for my Island Batik box opening coming up soon!!!!
Happy Quilting!!!
Wow! As always, your quilting elevated this fairly simple pattern to a whole new fabulous level! Great job, and thanks for the Pro-Stitcher video too!
I love that pattern as well and have made it as gifts for others. I really like the winter blues’ fabrics. Your quilting designs really make the table mat pop! Great job, Jane!
Very pretty! What a sweet table topper.
