The Awards Ceremony for MQX Midwest was held last night and they show the awards ceremony live on Facebook…..isn’t technology great!!!
My customer/friend, Rhonda, had entered two quilts. One that I quilted and one that was quilted by another longarmer.
Congrats to Rhonda and Sue Whitaker(longarmer), for an Honorable Mention in the Computerized Quilting category for the quilt “Strawberry Sunrise”!! It’s beautiful!!
Rhonda’s quilt (that I quilted), “With Milk and Sugar?”, took a Third Place in the “Our Daily Bed” category. Way to go!!!!
Little did I know, that there was another surprise waiting for me in my email. A couple of months ago, I spoke at a local quilt guild (Heartland Quilt Guild, Denton, MD). I was very impressed when a young man (Jarrett) attended the meeting with his Mom (Nicole), and actually had show and tell. He had quilts to show, along with woodworking that he does. His Mom took my Free Motion Quilting Class and I told her that she should consider having him enter the Kids Category at MQX.
Last night, after the Awards Ceremony, I received the sweetest email from Jarrett’s Mom, Nicole. Jarrett did enter the MQX Kids Category, and won a Third Place!! Woohoo!!! He is over the moon, as his prize is a Handi Quilter Stitch Sewing Machine, a quilters starter kit, and a MQX vest. Even though he will be over the age limit for the kids category next year, he is now determined to enter as an adult!!! It’s so much fun and so inspiring to see a younger generation get so excited over quilting!!!
This picture is not from the show, as I don’t have that yet, but I wanted to share what his quilt looks like. Beautiful job, Jarrett!!!
Thank you to MQX for providing that opportunity for the younger people that are learning to quilt!!!
Happy Quilting!!!!
Beautiful work by both of you extremely talented women. Way to go!
Thanks, Rose!!
Your quilting is more than fantastic! I hope to find one of your classes and attend multiple classes.
Brenda – I would love to meet you and for you to take a class or two from me!! Keep an eye on my Event page as it changes as I add classes.
