I wanted to take a moment to check in to see how everyone is doing?
Many of us are under a “stay in place” order. How are you all coping with this?
I feel like those of us that are quilters/crafters/sewers probably have plenty to keep us busy. I know I have plenty to keep me busy, but I am having a hard time concentrating on just one thing for very long. Are any of you struggling with that?
I am a hugger……… and this “social distancing” is so hard for me!!! My son drove over to my home the other day and he stayed in his car with his son, and I stood away from the car in the driveway and we talked for the longest time. But it was so hard not to be able to give him and my grandson a hug!!!!! Anyone else feeling that loss???
I have been making some masks. I was not planning on doing this, as I know they are not truly a way to prevent getting the virus, however, the local hospice put out plea for masks and a pattern to use, so I made quite a few.
As you can see, I ran out of elastic and have been using these elastic headbands from Dollar Tree, which work great!!
Now the local sheriff’s department is on a mission to collect 4000 for the first responders in the local area, and are wanting a different type of mask. I am now working on those. They will use these over top of their n95 masks, as they do not have enough of those.
Many of us have now missed our Spring Quilt Shows. I had one i was going to work at for Superior Threads and another (MQX) that I was supposed to teach at to sold out classes!! I am now missing being at quilt shows, and know that many of you while stuck at home, might enjoy this. Handi Quilter is having a month long cyber quilt show, so make sure that you check it out.
Take care and stay well!! Let me know how you are all getting along during this time of crisis.
Happy Quilting!!!
Love the ghost hug!
😁
Thank you! My sewing time has also been devoted to mask sewing. I don’t do repetitive tasks well and my tolerance for making the same thing over and over is wearing thin. It is an encouragement to know other quilters are laying aside more challenging and entertaining projects to serve the community with this necessary task. A BIG ghost hug to you, dear one!
Thank you for sewing masks!!! 😁
I am also busy sewing mask. I did figure out that I could do part of the sewing on my Amara to speed things up. Putting ties in mine instead of elastic. Going to need to get back to quilting soon.
Love the ghost hug! Coming back to you!
I too have been making masks. I chose a pattern by a nurse, who recommended the size ( to be worn over an N95 mask) and the ties instead of elastic. They took a long time, and now I am making them for family and friends in prep for the next corona protection edict.
Looking forward to quilting some minis for my upcoming September Quilt Show. I am hoping to try out some feather, ribbon candy and wishbone variations. Sooo many unfinished projects waiting to be tackled!
The best gift throughout all of this has been the daily Facebook Portal sessions with our almost 3 year old grandson. His language skills are exploding, and he is developing such a delightful sense of humor!
Thanks for sharing all of your quilting projects. I keep a log of your designs that I refer to when I want to try something new!
Be safe and well,
Hugs,
Eileen
