This month our Island Batik project was up to us to do whatever we wanted. I was super excited, as I had just the project in mind, and knew exactly what I wanted to do.
I started with this 2 1/2″ strip pack called Mystery. Aren’t these colors just yummy???
I had to add a couple of fabrics for borders and accent color, so I chose these coordinating fabrics from Island Batik.
I had seen a pattern for a rug that required 2 1/2″ strips, and was super excited to get this pattern and give it a try. I had made other strip rugs before, but none like this one. This is Jelly-Roll Rug + by RJ Designs.
This pattern recommended 2 1/4″ batting strips, so I went ahead and purchased this product which was made by Bosal. This worked so well!!!
What was even better was that I had the perfect color Aurifil Thread to use for this rug!!
After a lot of sewing tubes, I was then able to do the zigzag stitching to sew them together!! My Schmetz needles worked wonders for this!!!
After all was sewn together, I am thrilled with my final project!! I can’t wait to put this rug somewhere in my home!!!
A special thank you to the following companies for their products: Island Batik, Aurifil and Schmetz!!! These products were supplied to me to use in completing my Island Batik Ambassador projects.
Happy Quilting!!!!
