Today is my day on the Island Batik Paper Pieced Celebrations Blog Hop.
I received a surprise package in January, that I was to use to make this project!!
And what was inside this package???? It was this gorgeous new line of fabric called Prisms. A signature collection by Kathy Engle for Claudia Porter of Create With Claudia.
When I opened up the package and saw all of these bright fabrics, they reminded me of Summer!! There are several holidays during the Summer, but it is also a time when the grandkids are over to swim in the pool and we just have fun……..and have cookouts……..and eat popsicles!!!! To me, the entire Summer is a celebration!!
So, I decided to start looking around, and I came across this adorable paper piecing pattern on Etsy, that I thought would be wonderful for this line of fabric.
This pattern was designed by Leila Gardunia. Please click here for her website.
Once I had the patterns, I printed them out on Carol Doak’s paper piecing paper, which is my favorite!!! It makes paper piecing so easy, especially when it’s time to tear the papers off!!
And of course, my Schmetz needles helped in the process too!!
Here’s how the process was going along the way.
Making these sort of became addictive, as I tried to think of all the different color combinations I could get from this fun and bright line of fabric.
My Oliso iron sure did come in handy!!!
Here is how it all ended up, once I had it pieced together. This is lap size, but I am going to hang it to celebrate the Summer months!!
I loaded it on my longarm frame to quilt, using two layers of Hobbs Cotton batting. I did all the quilting with my Handi Quilter Amara.
Once I had this quilt quilted, and the binding attached to the front, I had the perfect color Aurifil thread to do the hand stitching of my binding. I do love to sit and do that in the evenings while I’m watching television.
And here is the final quilt pictures…..front and back!!!
Island Batik is having a giveaway each week. Use the entry form below or head over to their website. Here is what you could win!!

Jane, that’s a very nice pattern you used for these fabrics and as usual your quilting is exquisite. I save a lot of your projects as photos and get some great ideas for how to quilt my projects😁.
Pretty quilt. You give a lot of choices for a popsicle. I’ll take the lemon/orange one.
Love this, Jane! It’s so right on as it’s getting hotter and time for ice cream! Great job.
This fabric bundle is beautiful and it was fun to see what you did with it. I love the way you quilted your quilt too!
Jane you’ve done it again! I love your scrappy popsicle quilt!!! It is so fun and summery! The fabrics are vibrant and beautiful. Your quilting is amazing (as always. 😊). The two layers of batting sure makes the quilting pop!!! Love it!!
I love your quilt, so representative of summer. It reminds me of the times we went swimming and always went to the refreshment stand for a Popsicle in between swimming.
Your quilt makes me drool!! Of course it is because of the quilting, design, color, not because I want a popsicle.
What a fun quilt! And your quilting is gorgeous too! Thanks for sharing the giveaway.
What a fun quilt! Love the colors!
Gorgeous batiks and design. Those Popsicles look good enough to eat!
As usual I could not figure how to leave a comment on my biggest mistake. Here it goes. Not figuring yardage correctly and no one had extra
I love popsicles!! You took me right to summer! We make our own from fresh fruit and juices.
I love this pattern! I used to run to the icecream truck as a child for a popcicle…
