This month, for our Island Batik project, we partnered with Funky Friends Factory.
We were able to choose a animal pattern of our choice, and of course, I chose the dachshund!!
This Digger and Dixie Dachshund pattern is adorable!!!
I searched through my Island Batik fabrics and came up with a nice bright pink and yellow to make “Buttercup”. My granddaughter named her!!
The directions in the Funky Friends Factory patterns have step by step instructions that are easy to follow. I’m terrible at following instructions, and even I could follow these!! LOL!! And there was even a blog post to follow with great pictures and directions.
Here are some pictures of the piecing process.
I have to confess that when I quilt, I am not one to pin my pieces together. I am usually way too impatient for that. But with this project, pinning, especially on the bottoms of her feet, was absolutely necessary. It looks like a hot mess, but it worked!!!
Once I had this step done, I was ready to add the head and turn my animal right side out, and stuff her with fiber fill. I had the perfect color Aurifil thread to match the pink fabric, to sew up the final opening!!!
And now for some fun pictures to go along with this post.
My dachshund, Rosie, was good enough for a minute or two, to snap a few fun pictures!!
This was a fun project and Buttercup will be my sewing room mascot for now.
A special thank you to those that contributed to this project: Island Batik, Aurifil Thread, Schmetz Needles and Funky Friends Factory.
Happy Quilting Everyone!!!!!
