So…..I recently learned through Instagram that there was a mini swap going on. Actually, there are a lot of them on there, but I guess I just happened to come across this one first. You have to be careful though because it is so tempting to sign up for all of them!!
Anyway, there were 500+ people that signed up for this swap (#Rainbowminiswap) and each person was assigned a swap partner to make a mini quilt for. Well, I decided I would get a jump on mine and get started right away, even though the deadline isn’t until the end of March.
This is a blind swap so you do not know who has your name and your person doesn’t know you have her. You are required to post several pictures of your progress on Instagram. It is a lot of fun to see what others are making!!
The pattern I used is Thimble Blossoms Mini by Camille Roskelley and is called “Swoon”. They have some great patterns on their website, which is www.thimbleblossoms.com.
I wasn’t sure I was going to like this pattern or if this was going to be my swap mini, but I figured I would try it and see what happens. Here are all four of the finished blocks.
OK…..so now I like this and have gone on to the quilting. Here is the finished project!!
Now from what I have learned through this process is that a lot of participants then go on to send “extras” to their swap partner. Since my swap partner is in the southern half of the USA, I did purchase a “crab” Christmas ornament to represent Maryland, but am going to have to give some thought to a few other little things to include in her package. I will be sure to post an update once she receives her package and post pictures of the mini that I receive (oh….I can’t wait!!!! :))
I definitely had fun working on this mini and will have to keep my eyes open for more Instagram Mini Swaps in the future.
Happy Quilting!!
This person may need some Berger cookies included in her mini package…….
Great idea!!!
